Pie & Pea Supper at The Rose and Crown, Stanley on Wednesday 7th August 2024.

To mark the shortening of the days and to draw the Wednesday evening walks to a close, forty two of us gathered at the Rose and Crown in Stanley.

A small group of us had a short walk to stretch our legs, making our way down to the canal via a makeshift mountain bike course, obviously inspired by the Olympics.

We returned to the pub where the rest of the club members were chatting and discussing the discrepancy in the quoted meal price. This was rectified following a word with the landlady and we went on to enjoy the choice of meat and potato pie; which I really enjoyed, or cheese and onion pie, which I understand was delicious.

It was lovely to see so many faces, especially as the weather has made it hard to work up the enthusiasm to venture out at the end of the day.

A big thank you to Ashley for the effort he has made with the evening programme and to all the other members of the club who have also worked so hard.

Next club get together is the Social Evening on 21st September at Werrington Village Hall.
